Overview
Some events sell tickets long before the doors open. With Ticket delivery you decide when the buyer receives the tickets, so a ticket cannot be copied or passed on months ahead.
The order confirmation is always sent at once. It says when the tickets will arrive. The tickets themselves are emailed at the time you chose.
Key concepts
Immediately on payment
The default. Tickets are emailed as soon as the payment is through, as before.
A set time before the first performance
From 1 hour to 365 days before the event's first performance starts. If you move that performance, delivery moves with it.
At a fixed date and time
A date and time of your choice. It has to be before the first performance and cannot be in the past.
Choosing when tickets are delivered
Open the event
Open the event in the event editor and go to Ticket Types. The event must be saved first.
Find Ticket delivery
Ticket delivery is under the ticket types, next to the time to pay and the ticket limit.
Choose an option
Pick Immediately on payment, A set time before the first performance starts, or At a fixed date and time. For a set time, enter the number and choose hours or days.
It saves on its own
The choice is saved when you change it, and Saved. confirms it. It applies to orders already paid that have not had their tickets yet.
What the buyer sees
- The order confirmation arrives at once and says Your tickets for [event] will be sent to you on [date and time].
- Until then the ticket page shows Your ticket will be available on [date] instead of the QR code, and My tickets offers no PDF.
- A ticket cannot be transferred to someone else before it has been delivered.
- At the delivery time the tickets are emailed, normally within a few minutes, and the QR code and PDF appear.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I change the date of the first performance?
The delivery time is worked out when the tickets are sent, so it follows the new date. Cancelled or removed performances are not counted.
Are complimentary tickets held too?
No. Complimentary tickets are sent at once, whatever the setting.
Can I scan a ticket before it has been delivered?
Yes. The ticket exists from the moment it is paid, so the scanner knows it. The buyer just cannot show the QR code yet.
A buyer asks for their tickets early.
Change the setting to Immediately on payment. Tickets held for orders already paid are then sent at the next run, within a few minutes.
Why is there no Transfer button on the ticket?
Transfer is hidden when transfers are blocked for the event, or turned off for your organisation under Ticket transfers, and until the ticket has been delivered. A paid order placed before the delivery time is held, and its tickets are emailed at that time.
