Group discount

Let buyers who take more tickets of a ticket type for the same performance pay less per ticket.

Overview

A group discount belongs to one ticket type. You set tiers: from a number of tickets, a percentage off. The more tickets in the order, the larger the discount.

The discount is worked out in the cart, on tickets of that type for the same performance in one order. The price on the receipt and the invoice is the reduced price, with VAT on that price.

Key concepts

Tier

From (tickets) and Discount (%). A tier starts at 2 tickets or more, and each larger group gets a larger discount.

Per ticket type

Each ticket type has its own tiers. Adult tickets can have a group discount while student tickets have none.

Discount codes

Choose whether a discount code is taken off as well, or whether the buyer gets whichever discount is larger.

Adding a group discount

1

Edit the ticket type

Open the event, go to Ticket Types and edit the ticket type. Group discount is in the dialog once the ticket type exists.

2

Add a tier

Choose Add a tier and fill in From (tickets) and Discount (%), for example from 10 tickets, 10 %.

3

Add more tiers if you like

For example from 20 tickets, 15 %. Up to 10 tiers. Remove one with Remove.

4

Decide about discount codes

Can be combined with discount codes is on by default: a code is taken off as well. Turn it off and the buyer gets the larger of the two.

5

Save the ticket type

The tiers are saved with the ticket type. If a tier is not valid, the dialog stays open and says why.

Frequently asked questions

Does the buyer see the tiers before buying?

The discount shows in the cart once the order reaches a tier. The tiers are not yet advertised on the event page, so mention them in the event description if you want buyers to know in advance.

Who pays for the discount?

You do. The sale is recorded at the reduced price, so your payout is based on what the buyer actually paid.

What is refunded if one ticket of a group is returned?

The price that ticket was sold at, with the discount, not the list price.

It says a larger group must get a larger discount.

Each tier must give more than the one before it. Raise the percentage of the larger tier or lower the smaller one.
